2017 Board of Directors

Michael Shain, President and Founder
Michael founded Thanks To Yanks in 2006 by establishing the first annual 9/11 Tribute Dinner. He began the organization with the desire to “simply say Thank You” to those men, women and their families who selflessly sacrifice to serve and protect us. Since 2006, Michael has developed many relationships with those people and organizations, who share the same vision to support our military members, veterans and their families. He is particularly concerned about Gold Star Families (those families who have lost a loved one as a result of military service to our nation). Michael has been recognized for his service to others receiving WMRC First Class Citizen Award, Milford Daily News Person of the Year Award and most recently an award from the Marine Corps League of Massachusetts. Michael truly lives by the words “to whom much is given, much is expected.”

Donnalee Shain, Vice President and Chairman of the Board of Directors
Donnalee, wife of Michael and mother to Thomas and Matthew, worked behind the scenes when Michael first began Thanks To Yanks. Realizing the positive impact Thanks To Yanks was having, she suggested to Michael to look at doing more than an annual dinner. Through her efforts, Thanks To Yanks became a 501(c)(3) organization that provides support and resources to military families, veterans and their families. Donnalee has always had a passion for helping others both in her professional work as a physical therapist as well as through her volunteer work. In 2014 she was recognized for her community service, receiving the Unsung Heroine Award from the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women. In regards to Thanks To Yanks, Donnalee feels blessed to be able to help those who have selflessly given of themselves to protect us and our freedoms.

Tim Holtsnider, Chief Operating Officer
Tim is a 20 year Milford resident who has worked for several Fortune 500 companies and brings more than 30 years of experience in several disciplines to include operations, project and people management. Tim first met Mike and Donnalee “back in the day” when their sons were involved in Boy Scouts. Over the years Tim has volunteered at various nonprofits but never found one he wanted to commit to fully until he ran into Mike recently and heard how Thanks To Yanks has evolved and looking to grow. Tim feels there are few things more important than helping the members of our military, and their families, who have risked their lives to keep us secure and preserve our freedom.

Pat Rosenthal, Financial Officer
Pat brings with her many volunteer and entrepreneurial experiences from the local Milford area along with a lengthy career at a globally recognized company. Pat is part of an active military family and has a deep appreciation for our veterans, their families and all they do for us.

Maggie McIsaac, Secretary
Maggie graduated from Westfield State with a Bachelor degree in Business Management and minor in Commercial Recreation and Tourism. Currently, she is a stay at home mother of three and manages to volunteer in many areas within in the community. Maggie wanted to be a part of Thanks To Yanks because, as she says, “I was interested in helping with this wonderful organization because I have a brother, Henry Rabs, who enlisted in the United States Army during his senior year of high school and stayed in for 10 years, going on multiple deployments, and was trained as a Military Police Officer in the K9 Unit.” Maggie brings energy, and vision to the many programs TTY is involved with.

Stephen Bradford, Veteran’s Liaison
Steve is a U.S.Navy Veteran (1968-1971). He currently serves as Commander of the Holliston American Legion Post 47, is the President for the Holliston Pantry Shelf and is a member of the MetroWest Veteran’s Consortium. He met Michael Shain through a Gold Star Uncle, when he was co-sponsor of bringing the Massachusetts Iraq and Afghanistan Fallen Heroes (traveling) Memorial to Holliston.” Michael asked me to join the board when TTY decided to go for 501 (c)(3) status. I accepted because Michael and Donnalee truly believe in the mission.”

Stephanie Hughes-White, Director of Marketing
Stephanie joined the Thanks To Yanks board after moving to the New England area with her husband, William, who was serving in the US Navy. She brings with her over fifteen years of marketing, communications and public relations experience both as a consultant and employee. At their previous duty stations, Stephanie had been an active volunteer for other nonprofits that specifically supported veterans and military families. Stephanie felt that by joining the board, she would be able to support a community she has grown to love and has become her extended family.

Amy Neves, Volunteer Coordinator
Amy is the keeper of our ever growing volunteer list. As Milford Town Clerk, she is also able to advise the board of any and all local regulations to insure we are in compliance for events we hold in town. Despite a busy work and personal life, Amy attends events that help us to promote awareness of our organization to insure people do not forget our military members, veterans and their families.

Denise Minor, Ad Hoc Member
Denise is an energetic businesswoman and attorney who selflessly serves as legal counsel to Thanks To Yanks. She not only provides valuable legal advice but continuously puts us in contact with key people who are able to help our organization fulfill our mission.
